WHO ARE WE:
Memorial Hall Museum is highlighting a new temporary exhibit, the Pioneer Valley Picture Show. This exhibit showcases the rich cinematic history of our area. We are spotlighting local cast and crew members and 100+ years of movies making on location throughout the Pioneer Valley. This exhibit shows the contributions made by Pioneer Valley residents and highlights the popularity of our region of Western Mass as a movie-making destination. The dates of the exhibit are Sept. 6th - Oct 31st, 2025.
WHAT IS THE SCAVENGER HUNT:
As part of this exhibit, we are hosting a digital scavenger hunt which will bring participants to locations throughout Western Mass with significance to movie-making history. Participants will complete a series of tasks like taking photos or videos, answering questions, or checking in at specific locations. Some questions can even be completed from home.
WHEN IS THE SCAVENGER HUNT:
The scavenger hunt will run from Aug. 9, 2025 at 11:00am to Sept. 1, 2025 at 4:30PM.
HOW CAN YOU PLAY:
This hunt is fun for all competitors over the age of 13 and free to play. All you need is an email address. Players can play by themselves or compete as a team as long as you are registered under the same email address.

Once the app has been downloaded, select "Allow Access to devices location" (some clues are solved by GPS coordinates) and create an account. Once account is created, the app will automatically join you into the "Pioneer Valley Picture Show Scavenger Hunt"

WHAT IS THE POINT:
This scavenge hunt will showcase the people and places that put the Pioneer Valley on the big and little screens. Through a series of riddles, questions, and challenges, competitors will learn more about their favorite movies or TV shows through a Pioneer Valley lens.
CAN I WIN?
You can! There will be a series of prizes given for many milestones. Players will earn points for each correct answer.
The first person to reach 100 points will win the "YOU DID IT" Grand Prize.
The first five people to earn 60 points will be eligible for the "Getting Closer" assortment of Prizes.
Everyone who earns 30 points gets a "On Your Way" Prize.
Each person can only win one prize. Winners will be alerted in the app after the hunt is closed. Prizes must be collected in person at Memorial Hall Museum during business hours.
WHAT DOES THIS COST:
This is a free contest. We do not require you to purchase anything to play. If one of the clues brings you to a local business, it will not require admission fees or to purchase anything to complete the challenge. The player is only responsible to pay for the gas, transportation fees, lodging, any food, technology/data etc. that is encountered during the course of the game.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS OF SCAVENGER HUNT:
Please do not upload photos/videos that have been taken prior to the start of the competition.
Please allow for notifications from the app. This will allow the players to receive important announcements from us, the Scavenger Hunt Admins.
None of the clues will ask you to break any laws, so don't break any laws to complete them.
Please do not venture onto private property. The locations select were either pre-approved by the site themselves, or are public property. If requested to enter into a business, please only do so during business hours.
This is a fun way to learn about the Pioneer Valley's impact on the big and small screen, please maintain the fun and lighthearted joy of the game. Play fair and treat other competitors as you would want to be treated.
Use your best judgement. If it feels wrong, then it probably isn't right. Memorial Hall Museum / Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association does not assume any responsibility for any or all personal injury, death, property damage, or loss incurred while participating in the Pioneer Valley Picture Show Scavenger Hunt.
None of the photos/videos collected in the scavenger hunt challenges will be used for marketing purposes and will be deleted at the end of the game.
If there are any questions or disputes about players’ participation or the completion of any challenges, the determination made by the Scavenger Hunt Admins will be final.
